Sometimes we can be shy about "blowing our own trumpet" and thats understandable, but if we are too shy then it can get to the point where people don't even know you have a trumpet!
What am I talking about?
Well, I am talking about writing articles or small pieces for magazines about alpacas and getting them published.
You may recall from a previous Blog entry that I helped put an article together for Hobby Farms magazine on alpaca farming. The article has now appeared in the latest issue (March/April 2006) and is two half pages.
Its a simple "question and answer" piece for people considering getting into alpacas. At the end of the piece I get a mention together with my web site address. Which is great for me as Hobby Farms has a subbscription of 50,000 readers in the USA. Now some proportion of those will be interested in the article and a few may even take the time to visit my website. So out of curiosity I wll be watching the web stats over the coming days to see if I can see an increase in traffic to the site.
Write a piece for your local paper its costs much less than advertising and I am sure they will be interested in it particluarly if you have some alpaca photographs to go with it.
