When it comes to building roads or tracks around the farm it pays to make friends with the local building community.
There is always building going on in our area and the local contractors are constantly looking to dump the soil or degenerated granite they dig out somewhere.
The soil we dump into a rocky pasture and one day we will spread it out. The degenerated granite we use to build tracks between the various alpaca pastures.
Today a contractor called to say he had about 10 loads of degenerated granite which is perfect and exactly what we are looking for. To buy DG in this area costs about $13 a cubic yard.
Some days just get off to a flying start.
