Alan Godsiff sheared all our alpacas and some of nearby neighbours and customers alpacas too.
Some of the owners like to come along with their alpacas and help or just to bring their children to watch and then go home with their alpacas and bags of alpaca fleece.






At around 4pm we sheared the last alpaca and stacked the last alpaca fleece. At the weekend we will weigh each alpaca fleece and mail off the samples to Yocom McColl for analysis. The animals that are progeny of Studmaster Males have a more detailed analysis and the results of this analysis then go into a computer database where we will over time calculate estimated breed values for alpaca males.







What to do with the fleece? This year we will be showing some fleeces for the first time and selling some raw alpaca fleeces on ebay ...just to see what happens. Some clients are going to process their fibre and then knit garments with the yarn.

So its very much a year of experimentation.

Bottom line I was only kicked really badly once all day and today you can hardly see me limp!
