Today I want to tell you about a herdsire, new to me, and exactly what I have been searching for. The stud male in question is DERWYDD PERUVIAN INTI-SAPA - a gorgeous fawn male who throws black (his dam was black). Inti-Sapa had a fleece measuring 19.5 in his third summer. Although it isn't to everybody's liking (and we all know that you can't please all of the people all of the time...) we are very happy to be part of the Ideal Alpaca Community (see http://www.ideal-alpaca.com ). The IAC monitors, in a professional and scientific way, the potential of superior alpacas to pass on their genes to their offspring and will in time lead to the creation of a core of elite alpacas. There is room in the alpaca industry, we strongly believe, for everything - pet-quality animals, fiber animals, and elite breeding. Not all of our herd are, or ever will be "ideal alpacas" and this is deliberate, because not everyone who visits our farm is looking to buy "ideals" - many are looking for something cute to share their paddocks. We are, however, extremely proud to possess, breed from, and sell many alpacas whom we know to be carrying some exquisite genes.
