The sun shone and there was plenty to do outside. Mac completed the new poop dump which is bigger and improved. Now we can tip straight from the Gator down into the poop pile. This makes cleaning up each morning much easier and when people come to collect poop (yes we sell alpaca poop) easier to load.
We didn't get a final cutting from the hay field this summer so I had to "top" what grass there is before winter.
Mac completed cleaning the fence line next to the road so the place looks very smart at the moment with a mown hay field and a clean fence line.
Hopefully we will get a burn day tomorrow then we can dispose of a good deal of dry material.
With help from
Andy in the UK our web guru I learnt how to load images into the BLOG. So as you can see its not just text...its pretty pictures too.
We are all prepared to worm the whole alpaca herd this weekend. So that involves giving an oral dose each day for three consecutive days. There is no foolproof worming regime for alpacas so we are always keen to vary what we do as the parasites do develop a tolerance over time.
I will use the first day of worming as an opportunity to condition score and weigh every alpaca in the herd. The interesting part is then looking to see if anyone is gaining or losing and hopefully understanding why.
The chickens enjoy the sun as much as we do and are now back up to 6 eggs a day...more than we can manage to eat!
