Day two of worming went much more smoothly. Not sure if that is down to our improved technique as recommended by Tara Timpson or the alpacas getting the idea to swallow once the syringe goes in... either way it was much quicker and less stressful than yesterday.
In the late afternoon John Malkus of
Alpacas de la Pacifica arrived with his transporter to deliver an alpaca from NWA. A white female called Primadonna who is on her way to New Mexico to Bob and Regina Dart. John then picked up one of our open alpacas and took her and her cria down to
Derwydd Alpacas for a breeding. Its always hard sending females away for breedings especially when they have cria still feeding.
The world famous alpaca vet Norm Evans has a new version of his best selling alpaca book coming out soon, so everyone is ordering copies, sight unseen. There is a real hunger for information about alpacas and no one baulks at paying almost $100 for a book they haven't seen or even seen reviewed. I am sure it will be good so have ordered a copy myself.
Now is probably a good time to introduce Gifford our Australian Shepherd:
Gifford is named after an English circus called
