Back in February the Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association (AOBA) designated the last weekend in September 2007 as National Alpaca Farm Day in America.
But I haven't seen or heard very much about it since then, has anyone?
The thinking was that September is the time of year a lot of farms and ranches invite the public to get acquainted with alpacas anyway, so why not make it a national event.
AOBA suggested that one of the best tools for marketing any special event, open house, or alpaca fall festival is to get a Proclamation from the Governor of your state recognizing the National Alpaca Farm Day.
Now have any of the states done that? I honestly don't know and AOBA don't know either so please let me know if your state has made a proclamation to that effect.
Next Saturday is the regular meeting of the State of Jefferson Alpaca Association the local AOBA affiliate so it will be an opportunity to test the level of interest and enthusiasm among the members for hosting a national alpaca day here in Oregon.
If you have any comments please e-mail me via the Mulberry Alpacas web site. Sorry but I have had to disable the comments function on my Blog because of the large number of spam postings that were arriving each and every day.
