Today the sun is shining, the daffodils are blooming, the clocks have gone forward one hour, the hens are laying eggs and so I am officially declaring it is Spring at Mulberry Alpacas.
Actually I know for certain it is Spring because as I type the Blog entry for today I have been bitten twice by a mosquito on my forearm...... his mistake was going for a third taste.....I think you know what happened to him! All of which makes me think about West Nile Virus ...but not for long.
Its also Jo's birthday today so not much is happening on the alpaca farm by way of chores. We will be spending some time in the new vegetable garden and getting the ground prepared to plant the seed potatoes.
Those alpaca farmers who live in California currently pay tax on the alpacas they sell. However, news in this weekend makes it look like their alpacas will very soon be reclassified as fibre animals and therefore as livestock.
This is a great step forward but there is "many a slip twixt cup and lip" as my old mum says....so lets keep our fingers tightly crossed for those alpaca breeders in California who are going to drive this legislation through, a development which will benefit all alpaca breeders in California.
The AOBA election papers have arrived by e-mail so we now know who the candidates are and I will be talking about this in a future Blog entry.
