Well after asking what was happening about National Alpaca Day in my Blog last Thursday it appears that everything is moving along.
Yesterday AOBA sent out an e-mail to the entire membership announcing
National Alpaca Farm Day in the USA September 29, 2007
AOBA has designated September 29 during the last weekend in September 2007 as National Alpaca Farm Day in America. This is the time of year a number of alpaca farms and ranches hold events so why not join together and make it a “National Event.”
Apparently the AOBA Marketing Committee is hard at work on this project along with AOBA's PR firm developing media promotion, slogan banners, and suggested advertising materials. The AOBA Government and Industry Relations Committee worked on getting the government process developed to help us have individual state support.
The local alpaca farms here in Oregon will be talking about this idea when we meet up on Saturday for our regular meeting. It might be a bit tricky for us here is southern Oregon as we have our big alpaca show AlpacaMania in October. But these days there is always something going on in the alpaca industry so that isn't really a valid excuse.
