The irrigation system attempted mechanical suicide this morning. Essentially it sort of twisted to one side for reasons I don’ fully understand. This then meant the reel was rubbing against the frame of the structure and so it was slowly trying to saw itself into two pieces….luckily I spotted the problem and now it is corrected. All of which involved some pretty hard thinking for so early in the morning and a good deal of spanner work.
So we are into day three of irrigation season and have had a mechanical failure each and every day……..lets hope all is going to be okay for the rest of the season…..who am I kidding ??
Alpacas are now enjoying the lush grass and sunshine…the next female alpaca due to give birth Mis Sorella looks very well and is eating normally so fingers crossed for a nice healthy female cria.
We still have a male that needs castrating so when Leslie the vet comes out to check our new arrival in a couple of weeks time I will get her to castrate Babbo ……there are some farms selling boys for $100 at the moment but I can’t see how this covers even the castration and ARI fees so I have to assume that neither have taken place.
