I know there is a good deal of talk about an alpacas diet and the fibre they produce....and one day I really must get my head around all the papers that have been written and workout what if anything I need to do.
Meanwhile my problems are of a more mysterious nature....
One or more of my alpacas just loves eating insulation..it doesn't matter how well I wrap it in a plastic sheath or spray it with deer repellent they eventually eat it! And I still haven't been able to catch the culprit...all very frustrating.
Quite what effect this has on their fiber I have no idea but I bet it plays havoc with their digestion!
This years fiber is now all sold thanks to eBay packed into boxes and taken to the post office....
I think Gifford has a mean look today not so much to detter any would be fleece rustlers but because he really doesn't like sharing his space with alpaca fleeces.
The hardest part of selling on eBay is calculating the postage and for some reason buyer and seller always have slightly different expectations. Isn't it always the way?
We still have a bakers dozen of alpaca fleeces which we want to sell so let me know if you are interested.
