The three female alpacas destined for New Mexico return to the vets for a physical examination.
The T.B. test is an injection in the armpit and then 72 hours later an inspection to detect a reaction. All is well so now we are just waiting for the results of the blood tests for Brucellosis to come back from the lab.
While at the vets we discuss the implications of BVDV and I learn that the virus can remain active outside the alpaca for up to 72 hours. This is much longer than I had expected. I guess it means a transporter could show up at the farm with an empty trailer that has the live BVDV virus...I need to think about this one.
